Joel Strause

Vice President, Retail Leasing

Mr. Strause serves as Vice President of Retail Leasing at Sterling Organization, where he oversees leasing operations for the company’s retail portfolio across the Eastern United States. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he brings more than 25 years of experience in shopping center leasing.

Before joining Sterling, Mr. Strause led Real Estate Site Selection for Great Clips Inc., gaining valuable insight from the retailer’s perspective. Most notably, he spent 13 years at Phillips Edison & Company, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s growth. During 9 of those years as Vice President of Leasing, he oversaw a substantial portfolio of 80 grocery-anchored shopping centers totaling 7 million square feet. His earlier roles include serving as Director of Leasing at both Developers Diversified Realty and Inland Trust.

Mr. Strause holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Georgia and is a licensed Broker-in-Charge in the state of North Carolina.
